I recently read a blog post titled , Top 4 reasons to participate in a Twitter Chat, on Social Media Insights blog by Malhar Barai.
The post began by defining what exactly a Twitter Chat was for those who might not have participated in one before. A Twitter Chat is basically a conversation between a group of people on a topic of common interest. These chats are extremely simple to set up and can be fun and insightful. First, you should set a date and time for the chat. Then, decide what the topic is going to be, setup a hashtag (#), and let everyone know about it. It really is as simple as that!
The post was essentially about the reasons WHY we should all be participating in these chats and what we, as individuals, can gain from them.
1. Engagement
These chats allow you to engage with other people within a topic that sparks your interest. In order to get the most out of the chat, you have to engage. Ask and answer questions, post thought-provoking statements, and respond. This is a great way to gain new ideas and meet other people who share your same interests.
2. Build Intelligence
As previously stated, Twitter Chats are an awesome way to gain new ideas. These chats will help you to find out what could be the next big thing, or give you the inspirational idea you have been searching for.
3. Focused Followers
A Twitter Chat can be one of the best resources to find other individuals who are just as focused in a field as you are. While the key is not to participate in these chats to gain more followers, you will have the opportunity to let others know what you are into, as well as find others with common interests.
4. Promotion
Chats can be a great way to promote yourself or a business. You have the ability to share your expertise with others and/or promote what you can do, or what you are learning.
But remember: always stay humble.
